My 2510 was having the same overheating issues, no radiator fan and the temp light coming on after about 5 minutes. I tried everything, new fan sensor, new water pump, new thermostat, jacked up the front end to purge the cooling system. If your transmission is fine, there are two major things you need to square away. Idle speed needs to be right. For the KAF620 a1 it is 900-950rpm. If you are not at the right speed it wont catch into gear, especially if it is too fast. Manual will show you how to adjust the carb and the accelerator linkage.
