I've got a .280 Ackley built by Accurate Ordnance with a 22" Brux 1-9" twist. It shoots the 160-168's fine. Haven't shot anything heavier. With RL-26 my load is at 2950 with the 160 Accubond and 2925 with the 162 ELDx. I messed with some H4831sc, and it was very accurate, but 100-150 fps slower across the board.

So I don't have to change the bolt I went 22-250 AI fast twist, 308, and 280 AI fast twist with some free bore so I can load the bullets out and push the heavies. The 22-250 and 280 have 27" barrels. So, Campfire friends, that's the story of the 6.5-.280 Ackley. It is a superb round. Frankly, my work with my Gordy Gritters 6.5-'06 Ackley proved it to be fully equal to the 6.5-280 Ackley. If I were to chose between the rounds, I would go for the 6.5-'06 Ackley because dies are easier to obtain and the choice of brass (.25-06) is far superior.
A 30-06AI is absolutely not worth it. My .06 shoots as well as a 308 and I have at least 5 loads that shoot sub and 1/2 MOA. The AI version will not improve a thing, IMO.
